This is a unprecedented time. You are at home, your kids are stuck in the house, possibly scared. You can't have playdates. Parties are cancelled. What can you do to make life feel normal? Maybe I can help. You can have Ireland's favourite children's entertainer visit your house, via the magic of the internet. Meet Tony Baloney the Zoom Magician. Video trailer at the bottom of the page.
Welcome to the new magic - zooming at you.
Tony Baloney’s Zoom Show is an incredible online magic and puppet show, great for family occasions and sharing with friends. Join Tony and Leroy the Talking Dog, and their other puppet friends, and enjoy the best seat in the house. All done via Zoom.
Because of Covid-19 we are in lockdown, along with many other parts of the world. Public gatherings have been cancelled for the foreseeable future. But life goes on. Birthdays and family celebrations will still be held. Festivals are going online, companies still want someone to entertain their staff after stressful weeks. I should be rushed off my feet. But people can’t book a physical magician at the moment. So here comes the Virtual Magician, a unique new experience. I can appear on your telly, phone, ipad or laptop via the magic of Zoom and the internet.
How does an online magic show work?
Very simple really. All you need is a laptop, phone or tablet and the Zoom app. But don’t worry - Skype, WhatsApp, Microsoft Teams, even Facebook messenger, all work as well. With Zoom you can have up to 100 people - family, cousins, granny, best friend, school mates. Even family who live abroad.
You can watch the magic, you can interact with the magician, and you can chat to your friends. Just like the real thing. And it is hilarious. A genuine laugh a minute experience.
Online Zoom Virtual Magic Show
The Zoom Show is a mix of magic and puppets, with plenty of laughs, and lasts between 20 and 25 minutes. Every show features Leroy the Talking Dog, a big favourite with the kids.
Tony has designed the show to work perfectly online. Tricks have been chosen to work perfectly with this new format. And the small screen is perfect for puppets - remember the Muppet Show? Check out the trailer at the bottom of the page.
What sort of event is the Zoom party suitable for?
Anything at all - birthday parties, family celebrations, or just a treat for the children during these strange times. Get the cousins together, have a street party indoors, or get together with family abroad in a fun way.
And it’s not like watching a YouTube clip, or a magician on the television. This is interactive - you get to be part of the fun.
Where is the Zoom Magic Show available?
In the past few weeks Tony has performed in Ireland, the UK, both coasts of the USA, and in Canada. His weekly free Facebook live show has been watched in more than a dozen countries, including Ireland, the UK, Denmark, Norway, Italy, Malta, China, the USA, Canada, and Egypt. Borders no longer exist - you can book Tony Baloney from any part of the world, in any time zone.
Who is Virtual Magician Tony Baloney?
Tony Baloney is one of Ireland’s most popular children’s entertainers. He has been a full time professional for two decades, and four times Irish magic champion. He did 21 seasons as Santa’s magician at the famous Lapland Santa resort, worked summers on Irish ferries as resident entertainer, and performed in every town and village in Ireland.
He combines magic and puppets with strong storytelling. For adults Tony is also a comedian and hypnotist, and it all makes its way into the show, which is a hoot.
How many people can watch an online magic show?
Zoom allows up to 200 people. Facebook Live is unlimited. For most private events anything from two to fifteen is normal. For festivals, Facebook live on the festival page is often the best option, offering unlimited numbers. For corporate events Zoom allows a big crowd to attend with no difficulty. But I can advise you of the best platform.
What about Online Festival Shows?
An online show is a great option for festivals that cannot go ahead this summer. Every festival has a Facebook page. Tony can become a temporary administrator and do a wonderful online show for your event. Numbers watching are unlimited. He can do a great hour long show, or do a series of shorter shows, perhaps spread over a few days, to keep the excitement going.
What does an online Zoom magic show cost?
As with physical parties, costs vary. Obviously I don’t have transport costs, but you are still paying for my time and talent. Because we are all going through tough times together I have tried to keep the shows affordable. For a standard birthday show or family get together, I offer two options.
The Standard Party: 30 minutes of magic and puppets for E50.
The Premium Party: 45 minutes of magic and puppets, with some party games, for E70.
But for bigger events, Corporate entertainment, and festivals, higher charges will apply. Contact me for more details.
How do I book the Tony Baloney Zoom party?
Simply get in touch by email, by phone, or contact me via my Facebook page. I will send you a link for the payment, and an invite to the Zoom meeting. Or whatever format you prefer. I can help you with the app too. It is really very simple. Get in touch and I’ll talk you through it.
Does it have to be Zoom?
Zoom seems to be the best for private parties. Facebook Live works great for festivals and some Corporate promotions. But any online platform (Skype, WhatsApp, Google Hangouts, Microsoft Teams) will also work.
Can we talk to you during the show?
Absolutely. And for birthday parties, we can all join in singing Happy Birthday at the end. For family get togethers, I leave the party at the end and let you chat to each other. Just like in a physical show.
What ages is it suitable for?
The standard show is suitable for children from four to ten, but as I also perform for adults, I make sure it is not ‘childish’. The grown-ups will enjoy it too.
But I can also do shows for other ages. I do a very sharp magic and comedy show for teens, and for adults I do a combination of mind-reading and magic that is always popular. You tell me what age the audience is, and I can make the show suit them.
The advantages of this type of digital show are obvious. You can pick the time of your show - literally any time, from morning to bedtime. It costs a fraction of my regular show price. And if you want to repeat it a week or a fortnight later, you get a completely different show. So it is not just for special occasions. It can be just a treat for the children. You can even book a Tony Baloney bedtime story!
Theatre shows for when the lockdown is over.
